The Gallery of Primitive Art is on 3 Cirilometodska Street, tel. 423-669
The acclaim earned by our naive painters throughout the world helped to open this museum of primitive art - the first of its kind in the world. It is one of the most popular museums, because of the collection which includes works by the main names in naive art in the world: Ivan Generalic, Vecenaj, Kovatic, Lackovic, Rabuzin, Virius, Smajid, Skurjeni and others. The collection numbers some 1200 works by 130 artists.

The most significant figures in art from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries have found their place in this national gallery of modern art: Vlaho Bukovac, Vjekoslav Karas, Bela Csikossessia, Josip Racic, Ljubo Babic, Jerolim Misc, Zlatko Sulentit, Emanuel Vidovic, and the sculptors, Ivan Mestrovic, Antun Augustincic, Fran Krsinic, Vanja Radaus, Ivan Rendid, Robert Franges-Mihanovic. In all, there are 470 works from 205 of the most important modern artists in Croatia.

It collects prints by artists from both here and abroad. The department concentrates particularly on rarities in the field of prints and the W. Valvasor collection can also be found here.

The Collection of Prints and Drawings of the National and University Library in Zagreb is on 21 Marulitev Square, tel. 446-123
This includes more than thirteen thousand prints and drawings with a collection of postcards, posters, bookbinding, exhibition catalogues and others.

The Sculpture Gallery of the Croatian Academy of Arts and Sciences is on 2 Medvedgradska Street,

The exhibition space of the gallery is surprising in the diversity and abundance of its offering of Croatian cultural and historical monuments. It has a rare display of classical, antique sculptures as well as castings of the best known works which vividly depict the originals on display throughout the world. Of the ten thousand items in the gallery's collection, 2,500 are on permanent display.

The Benko Horva Gallery is on 2 Katarinski Square, tel. 425-227
Benko Horvat left his extensive collection to his country and it includes items from Roman times to exquisite works of art from the Renaissance and Baroque eras.

SACRED CROATIA - An urban gallery belonging to Zagreb's Privredna Bank, located on Cvjetni Square, emerged together with a 1992 calendar of the same name.

THE HALL GALLERY - This is found at the main branch of Zagreb's Privredna Bank on 6 Rackoga Street. It's an original effort at making an everyday hall a place for exhibiting art.

This private collection includes sculpture icons, works from Croatian painting of the twentieth century as well as sculptures by Robert Franges-Mihanovit. Similar design elements used in the Zagreb Cathedral can be found in the inside of the gallery.

The Collection of Anke Gvozdanovit is on 8 Visoka Street, tel. 430-533.
Here you can learn about the way of life of an urban family in the nineteenth and at the beginning of the twentieth century. Be sure to take a look at the collection donated to the city of Zagreb.

The Music Box Gallery is on 7 Demetrova Street
The "Ivan Geresdorfer" collection is a private one which offers a surprising array of music boxes from the past ranging from player organs to the first record players.

OTHER GALLERIES

Apart from museums and galleries, which stage permanent exhibitions, there is a whole range of exhibition halls, which put on individual and collective shows. More and more private galleries are appearing.

The Museum and Gallery Centre on 4 Jesuit Square, tel. 278-957
The most important exhibitions in Zagreb are staged here in the ideal space of the museum and gallery centre. They can be displayed either in the MGC Museum facility, in the MGC "Gradec" located on 5 Katariuski Square, or in MGC "Foriezza".

The Art Pavilion is on 22 Tomislav Square
This also provides an excellent exhibition space and is the venue for Zagreb's annual exhibition of drawings
