Zagreb is a city of song, dance and music where you can enjoy classical and modern music full of rhythm, as well as avant-garde. Musical evenings are staged in concert halls, churches, discos, and even in sports arenas and stadiums where the biggest events take place. What's more, every now and then, Zagreb becomes the centre of world music: every other year, every odd year, the International Bienale, the festival of contemporary, avant-garde music is held; every four years, the "Vaclav Huml" International Violin Competition is staged. As well, visits by the most widely acclaimed artists to the "Vatroslav Lisinski" Concert Hall should also be mentioned.
